BareBack Mountain

Just thought I'd jump in and give a couple of thought on the cinematic masterpiece... dare I say CLASSIC Brokeback (or is it bareback?) Mountain.

This is supposed to be the smash hit of the new year. A wonderful tale of forbidden love. Star crossed lovers who rendevous in a spur of the moment pup-tent round of male-on-male horizontal mombo.

Yeah. A full fledged gay man love story. And to top it off... it's a western.

Why didn't Clint Eastwood and The Duke think of this?

I was reading my friend's blog about this and added a comment and decided to go ahead and post it here as well.

Read Brady's blog: http://nobonesaboutit.blogspot.com/

Here's my response:

The Chronicles of Narnia total gross as of 1-20-06: $265,086,453.

At ~$8 per ticket: 33,135,806 people have seen it.

vs. the ~4 million who've seen BBM

Over 8 times as many people have seen Narnia.

ASTOUNDING

A movie (story) that serves as an allegory for the Gospel of Christ is 8 times more popular with the American people than a story about two sheep herders who are obcessed with eachother and their butt lust.

And BareBack Mountain get's best picture from the foreign press at the Golden Globes.

It's interresting don't you think...

According to Box Office Mojo All time domestic gross:

2. STAR WARS - Classic Good/Evil Battle
10. The Passion of the Christ - Uh... THE GOSPEL --- SALVATION --- ETERNITY
29. The Chronicles of Narnia - The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe - Alegory of Christ and the Gospel.

Sprinkeled in there are the rest of the Star Wars movies too. But where do we find the obomination of Broke Back Mountain ? Not in the top 337 that's for sure.

So... apparently that movie is a huge financial flop... why? Because NO ONE wants to see cowboy man-lust.

Apparently the country's taste is still in the range of classic Good vs. Evil stories... ie: The Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter, STAR WARS, Narnia and the lot.

That's what we want Hollywood. Feed us!

We spent New Years day at Suzanne and Justin's house with Bob and Janice (Stellon's grandparents), as well as Nonnie and Pappa. Jayna asked Gran to read her Star Wars book. I'm guessing this was a first for Gran, but not a last if i have anything to say about it.

explore faith : In the News

Ok, those who know me know that I am first and foremost a Christian. Not because of my status as an American, not because of my friends, or because I was raised Baptist. But because I believe fully and completely that the ONLY way to spend eternity with God is to receive the gift of Christ's Salvation and grace.

I believe that Jesus is 1/3 as well as 100% God. I believe that he lowered himself to become a man (yet was still completely God) and live here, among us and as one of us. I believe that he NEVER sinned. I know this because God can't tollerate sin. Therefore, since he IS God, he is, was, and will ever be without sin.

I believe that he offered himself as a final sacrifice to atone for all of mankind's previous, current, and future sins. I believe that this single act over-ruled the old decree that there would have to be a blood sacrifice in order to atone for a year's worth of sins and restore a relationship with God.... and because of this, we all live under God's Grace. We don't all receive that gift.... but it's there to for the taking if we just belive.

I believe. No questions asked.

Having said that, I also am a devoted fan of George Lucas and the Star Wars universe. I love the new mythology he created and will till I die. I pray he receives Christ as I have, so that we can spend eternity praising God as brothers.

BUT. The Jedi order is not a religion of Earth and should never be followed as one. There are many similarities between Jedi and Christianity, but the one thing lacking in the Jedi doctrine... is Christ. Therefore, it's false. It may be a good path to follow... like Budahism, but... it's not centered around God and Jesus's sacrifice.

However... that article above is interesting..... and also... sad.

later y'all !

I found this at John C Dvorak's Blog. My comment is below.

RTF EULA | TG Daily
The End User License Agreement. You probably have grown accustomed to clicking through on these when installing new software, so accustomed that you don’t even read them anymore. Well, we have and here are some of our favourites. We also present them with simultaneous plain English translations.

…Therefore, you agree to pay, and Company agrees to accept in compromise, for each chargeback you may issue or directly or indirectly cause to be issued against company, the amount of EIGHT THOUSAND DOLLARS ($8,000.00) to Company (or the party selling you this license), as liquidated damages and not as a penalty. You expressly confess, in the event of such a “chargeback”, that such chargeback constitutes fraud and confess such fraud. You agree to pay all costs incurred by company or the seller of this license in collecting these amounts.

**********************

I say we start a campaign to have an EULA for the consumer and other average joe people.

Something like, "By allowing Company to debit my checking account on a regular basis, they are expressly agreeing that they will refund 7X (Seven Times) the anual amount taken out if they provide anything less than sub-standard service to the end user of their product or service. Further, Company agrees completely that the term "Sub-standard service" is defined as anything that the end user (User) deems as inappropriate. This may include and is not limited to items such as, harrassing phone calls, not paying over-draft charges caused as a result of Company's debit, failure to answer a customer service phone call on the 2nd ring, and any other item that User may deem inappropriate.

Think about it, if we didn't buy their software, use their service, subscribe to their monthly this or that, they'd not be in business... So maybe we should start a campaign to FORCE them to agree to our demands before we partake of their offerings....

My 2 cents.

We went to Howard Payne Homecoming 2005 this weekend. There weren't many fellas there but we did find one VERY important one Sunday morining. Justin & Suzanne are members at Coggin Ave Bapt Church and the church is currently without a pastor.

As he has done for so many churches over the years, Dr. Frankie Rainey stepped in as an interim pastor. God seems to have really blessed Dr Rainey with the gift of shepharding churches during times of transition. He's a special man.

Dr. Rainey also is VERY special the the Curlee and Mathews family. Dr Rainey served as pastor for Memaw Lorene and Pappa George's church in Lampasas. During that time they came to love him dearly and till their last days always spoke very highly and lovingly about him. He meant alot to those two and that congregation.

Over the years as a professor of Christianity at HPU Kat and I got to know him as well.

Kat had him for New Testament, a class which suprisingly kicked her butt. She learned alot from him.

I didn't have him for any classes... thankfully because he graded REALLY HARD.

Dr Rainey however was our Delta Pi sponsor. WOW what memories. He was our dad, our grandpa, our best friend, and our leader. He was and is still, one of the original fellas.

One minute he'd be going over scripture with us, the next he'd be dwelling us. We'll be posting plenty of Dr Rainey pictures at dasfellas.com as that site comes to life.

For Kat and I, Dr Rainey means a little more than most. He was our pastor at Crestmont Baptist Church in Burleson when we lived in Arlinton the first time around, and more importantly, he was our pre-marriage counselor. We learned alot durning our sessions with him. We love him dearly and to this day keep him near our hearts.

This morning at Coggin, I had the distict honor of introducing my daughters to him. Jillian just smiled her usual smile, but Jayna ran right to him and jumped in his arms for a HUGE hugh. He squeezed her tightly and just loved on her. I almost started crying.

Full Circle. Wow. I've got pictures of Dr Rainey, pictures of me and the fellas with him, and now... a picture of my beloved daughter with one of my beloved, former leaders.

Dr. Rainey, Thanks for the years, the memories, the love and the laughs.... all of them.

I and my family love you brother!
